On National TV…

Talk about a AWESOME couple of days with all that goes on in filming a scene for a TV Show. This is a LITTLE of my experience working with the crew at Bee Square studios.. And the Story of the FUN and Honor to meet them all..

My first day at the studio was spent in the props area building the LARGE balloon molecule you saw. I built 3 styles of the molecule and then I got to meet Mr. Brown. Was awesome the person you see on TV and the REAL man are very similar. Nice, polite, with a ton of comedy and humor mixed in. They where having some issues with some props that day and after seeing how simple the balloons where to get organized and put together Mr. Brown jokingly threatened to do all effects with balloons from that point on.  A couple hours of work and we had the Molecule made up, a few extra parts, and multiple strands made up.

Got home that night and made up a caricature of Mr. Brown out of balloons. I thought it looked pretty good (I’ve gotten better since then). As a Atlanta Magician and Balloon artist this was a fun event as a “Good Eats” Fan (did you know bananas don’t grow on trees?) this was AWESOME.

The day of the shoot was a BLAST, and umm having lunch on the set of a FOOD Show.. YEAH it ROCKED.. you should BEG to be an extra on this show just for the FOOD (I WILL COME MAKE MORE BALLOONS) . I showed the caricature to one of the assistants quickly got me to HIDE it. Then the plan was made to present it on camera.

As we began shooting They taped a mic to my shoulder to get the sounds of balloons squeaking. We did the scene and as Mr. Brown turned away I pulled out the little A.B. to which when they stopped shooting Mr. Brown turned and said.. “NOW That’s Funny” and went to check how it looked on the tape.. He liked it and we reshot it to get it at a better angle .. ..

This was my day on the set at Good Eats. Was tons of Fun and if you have never Watched the show or looked into it I would HIGHLY suggest it and you should buy Alton Brown stuff from His Website
